First, let us know – What Is Cancer?
We are all aware of the fact that cancers do not have a permanent cure, but you will be relieved to know that positive attitude, medications and Ayurveda care can easen your recovery process without any hassles and adverse effects.
During the normal physiology, every cell multiplies at a determined rate and eventually dies after a set lifespan. At the onset of cancer, these cells mutate and keep multiplying and don’t die, resulting in accumulation and overcrowding of abnormal cells, thus forming a mass or tumor. These abnormal cells invade the adjacent tissues and spread in the body. The cancer is named after the part of the body where it originates, even if it spreads to other body parts in its later stage. How can one rectify this condition? Well, it depends on your condition and your doctor’s guidance.
Cervical Cancer – It is the type of cancer which begins at the cervix of the uterus. The cervix is the lower part of the uterus which connects the vagina. The foremost kinds of cervical cancers are adenocarcinoma and squamous cell carcinoma. Cervical cancer is a significant cause of mortality in women. During the early-stages usually, no signs or symptoms are noticed, but in the later stage cervical cancer may manifest symptoms like –
- Vaginal bleeding, post-intercourse or in between periods or even after menopause.
- Watery, bloody vaginal discharge with a foul smell.
- Pelvic discomfort or irregular pain during intercourse.
The causes, on the other hand, are not well classified. There is no established cause when it comes to cervical cancer. Other factors, such as environment or lifestyle choices also determine the chances of developing cervical cancer. According to NCBI, “It is one of the leading causes of cancer mortality, accounting for 17% of all cancer deaths among women aged between 30 and 69 years. It is estimated that cervical cancer will occur in approximately 1 in 53 Indian women during their lifetime compared with 1 in 100 women in more developed regions of the world.” Many women have been affected and need assistance. So how can one opt for an effective treatment?
Chemotherapy, radiation and medications are a few prevailing modules of treatment which aids the patient by destroying the cancerous cells. Ayurveda, on the other hand, aims at finding the root cause which may include – not following of Rajaswalaparicharya, or Sutikaparicharya, Vegadharan, Mithyachar i.e. following wrong practices (in terms of the daily regime, seasonal regime or rules of sexual intercourse). It may also include indulgence of ViruddhaAhar or disobeying dietary rules. Hybrid, genetically modified, unnatural, pesticide or preservative loaded food which can act as Visha (poison) and can be considered as the significant cause.
All this may lead to Raktadushti and Ojadushti (Oja is the purest part of all the Dhatus which maintains life ). The disoriented functioning of Vata Dosha replicates in abnormal multiplication and inability of apoptosis (Process by which the body gets rid of unwanted or abnormal cells).
While availing Ayurveda treatment, the exact cause is determined during the detailed case study. This is then treated accordingly, depending upon the stage of Cancer. Treatment may include correction of lifestyle, along with medicines to rectify Raktadushti and Ojanasha. Rasayan and Vishanashan treatment proves helpful.
Local treatments like Yoni Dhaawan, placing of Yoni Pichu soaked in medicated oil helps to heal the cervical erosions and relieve pelvic pain and discomfort. At times if needed, local application of Kshar Karma is advised. These localised treatments along with internal Ayurvedic medicines improves overall health and functioning of the uterus, thus correcting the untimely vaginal bleeding and discharge.
Today, with growing incidences of various cancers, creating awareness regarding these health problems and its preventive majors, should be our prime focus to build a healthy community. Hence, to support our community and to keep everyone informed, we have focused on Cervical Cancer, which is one of the common types of cancer among young and middle-aged females.
As quoted by Mrs. Michelle Obama – “Communities, and countries and ultimately the world, are only as strong as the health of their women”. So instead of accepting a disease label and shutting off from our potential, we all should understand the importance of preservation of health, then take efforts to cure the disease.
Practice healthy lifestyle, indulge in naturally grown organic food and follow Ayurveda because we “WOMEN” are the reason behind a happy family.
